My name is Renae Nelson and I have been doing family childcare for about 2 years now in Portage, Wisconsin.  I have been in the child care field for a total of 7 years now. I have a wonderful husband and family that supports my career choice. I am licensed through the state of WI and continue my education each year.

I have a love of children and enjoy watching them grow and learn.  I love being a part of their lives.  I offer many opportunities for the children in my care to grow and learn.  Things like indoor and outdoor play, art activities, music, small manipulatives, dramatic play, field trips, walks, etc.  The list goes on and on :o)
I strive for the best quality childcare...afterall, a child needs to feel loved and safe everywhere they go! 

About Me:

I have been caring for children since the age of 12.  In High School I took my first course in Childcare through MATC and started working part time in a local center doing the odd jobs like cleaning etc.  Then I progressed to a teacher over a 3 year span.  In that time I took the teaching courses through MATC.  I then had my son and went to another center.  In the last 7 years I have worked at many different centers depending on where I lived and have had many educational experiences.  I have gone to MATC for all the teaching classes and Infant / Toddler.  I have had training in  SIDS, CPR and First Aid.  I am required to have at least 20 hours of continuing education each year in order to be licensed with the state.  So far I've been able to do so!

About My Daycare:

My day care is in my home :o)  We have a separate room for our fun play times, a fenced in back yard, a dinning room, a kitchen and of course the restroom.  We spend most of our time in the day care room and outside.  There is a school playground near by that we take field trips to as well.
